AEI’s Protected Pedestal Assembly is designed to be installed on a variety of platforms from flat bed trucks to ship decks. The pedestal has a seat assembly attached to it such that it can freely rotate around the centre line of the pedestal. The operator simply uses their feet to ‘walk’ their way around the pedestal.

The ability to be seated greatly reduces the operators profile behind the pedestal and weapon mount. This reduced profile aids the operator’s protection which is further enhanced by the ability to add lightweight ballistic panels to each side and the rear of the seat, plus a frontal gun shield can also be added without modification. This armour pack system thereby offers the operator good all round protection against small arms fire, a feature not seen on any conventional pedestal assembly.

The design is modular so that it can be supplied without shields which can be fitted at a later date, plus these can easily be removed and replaced without the need for special tools.

The pedestal can be fitted with any of the AEI range of weapon mounts, from 5.56mm up to and including a 40mm AGL, or the multi weapon mount which will accept the 7.62mm GPMG,
12.7mm M2 HB QCB or a 40mm AGL.
